Missouri City has bragging rights to the largest and most extensive park system in Ft. Bend County.

The Parks and Recreation Department has been honored with the prestigious "Gold Medal Award" three times in the 1990s. The award is given by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society and is for "Excellence in the Field of Parks and Recreation Management" over a three-year period. It is the highest honor that can be given to a Parks and Recreation Department in the state. Gold Medal Cities are only eligible to receive the award every three years.

The recreation division coordinates monthly special events - Spring Clean-up, Easter Festival, Punt, Pass & Kick, Triathlons, Fun Runs and Health Fairs. The larger most noteworthy events include SnowFest, July 4th Festival and Halloween Haunted House. Capital improvements projects currently underway include a 27-mile Trail System, 250 acre regional park, beautification projects and general park improvements.

Community Park, Oak Hill Park, MosleyPark, Ridgeview Park, and Roane Park are all located in Quail Valley.
