Quail Valley Schools are Tops! What began on April 18, 1959 as the consolidation of two small school districts has grown today into the 7th largest public school district in the state. Among its many honors, FBISD had 51 National Merit Semifinalists in 2006-2007. The District has received both state and national recognition for its quality fine arts programs and has been named one of the Top 100 Places in America for Quality Music Education three times in the last five years. Governor Rick Perry named FBISD as the Fittest School District in Texas in 2005 and 2006. Elkins High School was recently named as one of the 574 “top public schools” in the state, only 7% of the 7,908 Texas public schools. Elkins has been and continues to be a leader in the State Academic UIL arena, has one of the best baseball and softball programs in the country, and their golf teams whose home course is Quail Valley Country Club have been district champs time and again. Quail Valley Middle School and Lake Olympia Middle School are feeder schools into Elkins, while Palmer, Lantern Lane and Quail Valley Elementary School teach our youngest their basics. The Fort Bend ISD G/T Academy at Quail Valley Middle School offers a rich and dynamic academic program, with exceptional depth and challenge. For details about the G/T Academy, go to www.fortbend.k12.tx.us/gifted. Each month you will see the various accomplishments of our youth on the pages of our local newspapers. We are proud of our students and the many parents who volunteer in our FBISD schools! For the latest information and “Great News about Fort Bend ISD”, go to www.fortbendisd.com. |
